We people of Second Baptist Church
are simply overwhelmed by the kind and generous cooperation being extended
to us during our construction difficulties.
Never before in our national history have
Masons, representing the Jewish and Protestant Christian communities and
the Knights of Columbus, symboling the Catholic segmant of our society,
literally and cordially joined hands to assist a negro Baptist Church.
To have forsaken centuries - old religious and racial prejudices
in a common purpose, to advance God's Kingdom, is truely a pearl of great
pride.
Recently we were thrilled with our scientific
achievements in outer space and rightly so, but we hope and pray that this
Pottstown experience in human relations will spark a trend for harmony
that will have equal significance in our country and our world.
I would surely be remiss, if I didn't extend
our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported this noble effort. Even
though we never solicited financial support of those from outside Second
Baptist, we are deeply moved to see people of good will of all creeds and
races, respond to the leadership of our dear brother, Mike Hunter, whose
free, but unitizing service, is helping to make our dreams come
true - a house of the Lord adequate for our needs.
This great game spectacle, made possible
only by the generosity of the Pottstown Firebirds, could not have been
called anything but the "Brotherhood Bowl", for now, in Pottstown, there
will forever be a kindlier relationship between all our people.
